2026 AHPN Clinical Care Pathway: Adult Immunizations (IEM)

  • Overview
  • Speakers
  • Begin

Adult immunization is a cornerstone of public health, preventing hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions of hospitalizations from diseases like influenza, pneumococcal infection, hepatitis, and shingles in the past 25 years. Despite this success, vaccination rates among U.S. adults remain below national targets, resulting in approximately 50,000 preventable deaths each year. This protocol, based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2025 guidelines, empowers providers to improve immunization rates through routine assessment, patient education, and integration of vaccination into everyday clinical practice. By following these recommendations, providers can enhance patient safety and align with national health priorities.
