At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the emotional and psychological impact of pediatric and perinatal loss across at least three developmental stages or units.
  2. Analyze observed communication behaviors during pediatric and perinatal end-of-life care.
  3. Apply memory-making techniques and supportive rituals in time-sensitive or chaotic clinical situations.
  4. Identify one personal or team-based strategy to improve emotional safety and debriefing culture.
  5. Select one self-care action that can be implement post-shift to support emotional resilience.
  6. Summarize key insights from the family panel.
  7. Select one actionable change to improve bereavement support or interdisciplinary communication on the unit.
  8. Identify at least one verbal or nonverbal strategy that supports or hinders compassionate family care.


This course has been approved for continuing education accreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). AdventHealth University Division – echelon® is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
