This lecture will cover the primary and secondary prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

1. Review the USPSTF screening guidelines for osteoporosis.
2. Determine the appropriate first line medication for patients with osteoporosis at high and very high risk of fracture.
3. Discuss the risks and benefits of maintaining patients on bisphosphonantes over 5 years.
4. Discuss the sequential use of osteoporosis medications throughout a lifetime.
