Philip N. Styne, MD, was born in Long Island and move shortly thereafter to Miami, Florida.  Dr. Styne attended school in Miami until he went to undergraduate college at Tulane University. He received an honors degree in engineering with membership in Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.  Subsequently, Dr. Styne attended the University of Miami Medical School graduating with membership as a member of AOA the medical honor society.

Dr. Styne completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida and Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Colorado.  He applied and received NIH funding in addition to a young investigator word from the Veterans Administration for his research as a fellow.

Dr. Styne subsequently joined the faculty at the University of Texas and the MD Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston Texas.  He then moved to Orlando, Florida in private practice full-time for 26 years. Subsequently, he joined Florida Hospital as a full-time employee in the informatics department, medical director of digestive health, and also worked as interim director of liver services.

Dr. Styne is an experienced sailor with multiple international events and three national championships.  He continues to compete on national level.

Dr. Styne is married and has two children and three grandchildren. The latter live in Orlando affording Dr. Styne the opportunity to teach them to sail.
