Dr. Mohammad Al-Haddad is a board certified gastroenterologist with clinical and research expertise in endosonography and novel therapeutic endoscopy procedures. Dr. Al-Haddad completed his medical residency at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and his gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo Clinic Florida. He is currently Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine where he also serves as Interim Division Chief and Clinical Director, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In the last 3 years, Dr. Al-Haddad has helped establish the Medical and Endoscopic Weight Loss Program at Indiana University School of Medicine, a multidisciplinary program providing a spectrum of endoscopic and medical weight loss options. Additionally, he helped grow the recently founded Innovative Endoscopy program which currently offers a variety of novel therapeutic and third space endoscopy procedures. Dr. Al-Haddad’s other clinical and research interests include the management of premalignant and malignant cystic lesions of the pancreas, and applications of endosonography in cancer staging and tissue acquisition. Between 2007 and 2014, Dr. Al-Haddad served the Medical Director of the IU Pancreas Cyst and Pancreas Cancer Prevention Program, a unique multidisciplinary program dedicated to managing patients with premalignant and malignant pancreatic conditions. In addition, Dr. Al-Haddad was the EUS fellowship director at IU between 2007-2014, where he mentored numerous fellows and residents. He has authored over 200 papers in peer reviewed medical literature, fourteen book chapters, and presented over 180 abstracts and lectures in national and international conferences. Dr. Al-Haddad carries a Master’s degree in Clinical Research from Indiana University/ Regenstrief Health Science Institute and was the recipient of several research and career development grants. For the last 12 years, Dr. Al-Haddad has been an active member and received the designation of “Fellow” from the three main gastroenterological societies (American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological association and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) where he served on multiple committees and has been invited to speak and moderate at their annual scientific meetings. Dr. Al-Haddad is the current Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology for the State of Indiana. In addition, Dr. Al-Haddad serves as the Medical Director of International Patient services at IU Health and is involved in promoting the clinical care and education missions of IU Health globally.
